I am not from a military family, nor do I know anyone who is. But my heart is 100% with these soldiers and their families and every innocent Iraqi whose life has been trampled by this Bush-Cheney-Rumsfeld regime.
I also think the answer to his questions are obvious. We're stuck in Iraq with soldiers doing extra tours because:
1. The Iraqi government and Army are too weak for us to leave 2. We don't have a big enough army to shorten the tours
This disaster along with Vietnam make me think that Congress should pass a law requiring that no one can serve as secretary of defense during wartime who doesn't himself have a family member serving in the theater.
'And Should We Die' is a historical novel, written by Arthur Ruger, with a compassionate look at a little known tragedy in American pioneer history; the Willie-Martin handcart trek (the last of the handcart pilgrimages) with incredulous hardships that took so many lives. A novel about faith and courage in the Old American West
